As I write this month’s President’s Letter, I am hopeful that the COVID pandemic will be under control in the coming months. The pandemic has impacted so many areas of our lives, including our ability to gather with friends and colleagues. Therefore, I was thrilled to hear the news that The International Surface Event (TISE) will take place in-person in Las Vegas starting on June 16 through June 18, 2021. TISE will be the first important show since the last one was held over a year ago in January 2020. This event offers the opportunity for professionals working in our industry to learn about new products, gain design inspiration and expand their professional network. The conference also provides attendees the opportunity to hone their technical skills by participating in live demonstrations, workshops, and presentations. Another benefit of attending this conference is the opportunity to participate in many social events that are sponsored by the conference.

In addition to TISE, our industry is fortunate to sponsor two trade shows – Coverings and Total Solutions Plus – that offer training events, exhibitions and opportunities to connect with suppliers from around the globe. Advances in tile design offer both homeowners and owners of commercial properties many options for their construction projects. These trade shows not only give attendees access to new products, but also to information about their uses and installation requirements. Keeping up-to-date with the latest developments and new technologies in our field will allow you to chart a course for your business to be competitive. Therefore, attending trade shows should be part of your yearly planning and budgeting business costs. This is money well spent, and I cannot wait to get back into the mix of being involved in the industry on a personal level.

Although virtual business meetings allow us to carry on with our work, there is no replacement for face-to-face communication. It will be my pleasure to meet in person with new and old friends at these conferences and I hope to see many of you there. Please consider attending these conferences in support of our industry.
